Where does the time go???

Wow, I cant believe it has been so long since I posted on my blog. Life with a new baby definitely takes a turn for overwhelmed for a while. Shane just turned 3 months old and I am starting to feel like I can do this! The first 6 weeks were pretty rough just trying to make heads or tails of my world but with the help of an amazing baby sitter and a wonderful church delivering dinners for several weeks... we made it through!

Shane is a sweet baby boy and brings such joy to my heart. It is amazing how you feel like you wont know how to love another person but your heart just continues to grow with each child. All of my kids are incredible human beings. I dont know how I have had the priveledge of having such great kids, but I am thankful for every one of them. Of course, they take turns making me criminally insane, but thats their job I think!

I will try to be better about updating and promise to add some new pictures soon. Glad to be back!

Friday the 13th......

Where do I begin! On Friday March 6th, I turned 37 weeks pregnant and my blood pressure took a turn for trouble. The doctors decided that I would be induced! I was put on pitocyn and at 12:43 am on March 7th, I gave birth to Shane William Ussery. 8 lbs, 2 oz, 20 in long.

Immediately after his birth, I hemorrhaged and didnt get a chance to hold him. Once the bleeding was finally under control, I was able to see my sweet baby boy! I got to hold him for a few minutes until he was whisked away to the NICU for breathing issues. I wasnt too worried because after Rachel was born, she had some breathing concerns and they were able to just suction her lungs and she was good to go. Unfortunately for Shane, it was not that easy. He apparently inhaled amniotic fluid which caused pneumonia, in addition to his 3 week early lungs, he was in respiratory distress. He needed to be sedated and put on a ventilator to help him breathe.

It was one of the saddest most helpless feelings in the whole world. I didnt know if I was going to bring home my son.

After about a zillion lab draws from his feet, dozens of xrays, a ventilator, c-pap, 7 day on antibiotics, 3 blown iv lines, multiple injections and a circumcision..... I brought my sweet son home from the hospital on Friday the 13th @ 7pm! It was the luckiest day of my life.

I am loving every second with this little guy. The girls are all overjoyed to have him home and they are taking every chance they get to cuddle his little body! I will write more soon and post some more pictures..... until then..... xoxo Colleen

Impending Bedrest......

So, this morning the doctor told me to get prepared to "work from home." Since I dont have short term disability, no work = no pay. So, the alternative to no work is to work from home. Sounds great except for trying to work with a husband and herd of kids interrupting me every 30 seconds with VERY important questions like " where are my socks?" or "what's for dinner?" or even "why are YOU home so early?"
Working from home is meant to keep my blood pressure from going too high. There's a contradiction there somewhere dont you think????

Anyhoo.... I am 35 + weeks pregnant and counting the minutes until delivery. This little man is growing bigger and stronger every day and has discovered how to make me pee myself or throw up in my sleep with just the slightest of movements. I am so proud!

So, I ask that you wish me luck, say a prayer and send good thoughts to the universe for me.....
oh and if you haven't taken the poll, check it out! ---------->

Giant Baby????

A woman in Brazil gave birth Wednesday to a boy that doctors have nicknamed
"giant baby." The infant weighs 17 pounds, about the average size of a
six-month-old. He was delivered by Caesarean section.

OK, so I saw this headline after I went to the doctors this morning and was asked by the doctor "How big is this guy going to get?"

God help me!!!!!!!!

Glimpse of the Prize!!!

Yesterday we had our 32 week 3D ultrasound. We got a sneak peek of our little boy! According to the measurements, he is now close to 5 1/2 lbs which sends him into the 90th percentile. What does that mean???? Possible 10+ lb baby, but if you ask me, he already feels like a linebacker and with my weight gain of 60 lbs - I am secretly hoping he is in the 55 lb range... hehehe. . . . . . . . . . Time will tell!!!

Eagles VS Cardinals

Living in Phoenix with my heart in Philly should make for an interesting game on Sunday! The second folks in Phoenix hear that I am an Eagles fan, the trash talking starts... and its not me who starts it! I got this picture from my dear friend Samantha - a Philly girl!

Kinda sums up the whole situation! Go Eagles!
